We started with tiles. Because that’s where our own renovation headaches began.
Before we launched TileCloud, we, Mark and Drew, were working hands-on in the renovation world: running projects, solving problems, and noticing the same issues cropping up again and again. Meanwhile, Floss was immersed in the world of retail, discovering what truly mattered to customers and learning how thoughtful design could improve their experience.
The way home improvement products were sold felt painful. Tiles especially felt like they were stuck in another era: confusing, outdated, and lacking the kind of support renovators needed.
So we rolled up our sleeves and launched TileCloud, bringing together tech, great service, and refreshingly simple design to help people shop with confidence.
What started as a tile brand quickly sparked something bigger. With each new product category, we kept asking the same question: how can we make this less complicated and more enjoyable? That question became our philosophy, and that philosophy became Verandah.
Verandah is proudly Australian-owned, and built by renovators who’ve been in the trenches. We've learned what works the hard way, so you don’t have to.

We didn’t start with a polished brand strategy or a grand vision. We started with a few big frustrations, a handful of hunches, and a lot of trial and error.
Our very first tile shoot was Floss modelling the tiles by hand. Not because we were trying to be clever, but because it made sense. Showing tiles in someone’s hand gave customers a sense of scale, tone, and texture, things the industry had seemingly overlooked. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was us. And it worked.
Then came our first customer tile order. Broken on arrival. The kind of moment where all you can do is laugh (and cry a little). It was a rough start, but it also taught us our first big lesson: we had to move fast, learn faster, and treat every customer like they were the only one. That early stumble helped us build the systems we needed to deliver better, every time.
As word spread, we started to see our work show up in unexpected places, like in the hands of customers... and also in the sample packs of our competitors. One even copied our greeting card line for line. At the time, it felt like someone stealing our lunch. But looking back, it confirmed we were setting the pace. We’ve since learned to take it as a compliment, and to keep moving so fast that by the time they catch up, we’re already on to the next thing.
The first time we felt like we’d really made it was when Three Birds Renovations reached out. These were the renovators setting trends, inspiring thousands, and they wanted to work with us! That phone call felt like a lightning bolt. It was proof that even though we were small and scrappy, we were building something big.
Through it all, our tone has stayed true: like a best friend who knows their stuff. We’re here to help you make confident decisions, skip the stuff that doesn't matter, and have a laugh when things (inevitably) go sideways. Because let’s be honest, renovating isn’t always straightforward. But with the right people around you, it can be fun.

TileCloud

Next up: taps. With Yabby, we set out to demystify a confusing category and make high-quality, design-led tapware actually accessible. Whether you’re a spreadsheet-loving planner or just trying to avoid a plumbing disaster, Yabby’s here to help you get it right.
Dawn
